About Darlene C. Hagood

1 Corin 2:9

Darlene C. Hagood is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. She is the wife to Ricky Hagood for over 34 years and we have two beautiful daughters.  She is a proud Veteran, (a Soldier for life), writer, teacher, mentor, licensed Evangelist, Counselor, and the Founder and CEO of this wonderful gift from God, Sisters Encouraging Sisters Ministries Inc., a 501.c.3 nonprofit organization.

Mrs. Hagood proudly served our nation with destination and honor for over 25 ½ years. She joined the Army in February 1987 at Fort Jackson and retired in August 2012 at the top of the enlisted rank as a Command Sergeant Major and known to be a trailblazer. She made history in her final assignment as she was the first female to serve as the Adjutant General Corps, Regimental and School Command Sergeant Major. She cleared the path for others to follow and they have. She also made history in her previous assignment, again being the first female selected to serve as the Command Sergeant Major for Eastern Sector, Military Entrance Processing Command, covering 31 stations.

Darlene Hagood is the founder and CEO, Sister Encouraging Sisters (SES) Ministries, a 501.c.3. nonprofit community outreach organization. SES Ministries was first established in 2004 in El Paso, Texas. The vision of SES is to a community of women together to be encouraged with the Word of God and empowered with knowledge in areas of health, fitness, money management, and entrepreneurship. SES is currently operating in seven states with services being provided through life skills classes and workshops to help those served to make better life choices.  The focus is to be a positive influence on women, their families, and communities, one sister, one family, and one community at a time.

Darlene Hagood is a much-sought out motivational speaker, mentor and life coach. Some of her speaking engagements have included the 2011 ESSENCE Music Fest, youth rallies, College ROTC programs, High Schools, churches, women's conferences and professional development workshops around the world. She is actively involved in her local Church in Columbia, SC, where she serves as an Evangelist and teacher with Ecclesia Church Of God In Christ. She also volunteers her time and resources to assist other nonprofit organizations in the community that serve homeless men and women also women and their children of domestic violence.  She also serves as an advisor and mentor to other women in ministry.

Darlene earned her Masters of Professional Counseling, focusing on Marriage and Family Counseling, with Liberty University and a Bachelors in Business Management from Liberty University.  She truly has a heart and desire to see all people be the very best they can be. In 2013, she opened the doors of her office in downtown Columbia, SC to provide individual and group counseling sessions to help individuals deal with and face life issues that hinder them from being their best.  She has a personal goal to help change the stigma of counseling in minority communities. In August 2016 she acquired additional office space to open up “My Neighbors Closet” a clothes closet that provides free clothes to those in need and as of March 2017 they have serves over 600 customers.

One of her future goals is for SES to have a stand-alone facility to conduct workshops, classes, and outreach services needed to help coach, teach, and mentor those in need.

Mrs. Hagood says when she is questioned why she tries so hard, she reminds herself of a quote by Jackie Robinson that states “A life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives“ and the scripture from 1 Corinthians 2:9 that reads “eyes have not seen, ears have not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man, that which God has in store for them that love Him.’  The purpose to continue is clear, she wants to make an positive impact on others and God has great things in store.
